Dr. Vivian Wang is a psychological associate at CARE-LA, where she provides therapy for children, adolescents, adults, and families. Dr. Wang strives to create a warm and supportive environment where patients feel safe and understood. She believes in a strength-based approach to treatment where she helps patients identify their strengths and resiliency. Dr. Wang utilizes a cognitive behavioral (CBT) approach to empower her patients to learn new skills and to take on a more active stance in terms of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. While CBT is her primary approach to treatment, Dr. Wang often incorporates a variety of evidence-based approaches, especially mindfulness-based treatment, that are individualized to a child, or their family’s needs, to provide the most effective treatments.
Dr. Wang grew up in southern California and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Molecular Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. In 2015, she received her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the PGSP-Stanford Consortium in Palo Alto, California. She completed her predoctoral internship at the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center.Throughout her graduate career, Dr. Wang also sought out specialized training and research experience in the field of autism evaluation and treatment. Prior to joining CARE-LA, Dr. Wang worked in a variety of outpatient, hospital, school, and community based settings serving children, adolescents, and their families. Her clinical interests include early childhood development, behavioral and relationship issues, treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders and psychological testing.
